That's a good point about how much interior defensive play depends on technique rather than simply having the biggest body on the field. The 2018 Clemson defensive front was especially impressive because the players seemed to complement each other so well. Dexter Lawrence's ability to occupy blockers while still creating pressure gave the rest of the line opportunities to attack. I also think the move toward quicker 3-techniques makes sense as offenses continue adjusting their blocking schemes. It will be interesting to see whether recruiting eventually swings back toward larger traditional nose tackles as teams find new ways to counter that speed.
