Quick startup typically pertains to a functionality that assists a computer to get prepared for operation more quickly after being switched off. In Windows, this functionality is known as Fast Startup, whereby the system state of the operating system is saved to a hibernation file while performing the shutdown process. Once the computer gets booted again, Windows utilizes this saved data to speed up the loading of the operating system. This functionality differs from the Sleep function, where the current session remains in memory, and the Restart functionality, whereby the system is rebooted entirely. In cases when your computer experiences problems shutting down properly or installing some updates, Fast Startup could be considered.
