Bringing my Renault Koleos back to showroom condition

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience because I'm really pleased with how everything turned out. I've been driving a 2020 Renault Koleos for about three years now, and it's been a great family SUV. Comfortable, spacious, good features for the price, and pretty reliable overall.
The problem is, after three years of regular use, the car was definitely showing its age. The metallic gray paint had lost its shine and looked dull, there were swirl marks all over from regular washing, some light scratches on the doors from parking mishaps, and the front bumper had quite a few small rock chips. The headlights were also starting to look a bit hazy.
Inside wasn't terrible but definitely needed attention. The fabric seats had some stains from the kids' snacks and drinks, the carpets were matted down and dirty, and there was this general worn look to everything. The dashboard had dust in all the vents and crevices, and the steering wheel was showing wear from daily use.
I'd been thinking about trading it in for something newer, but honestly, the car runs perfectly fine and has been reliable. My wife suggested that maybe it just needed a really good cleaning to feel fresh again, so I decided to invest in proper detailing before making any decisions about replacing it.
I started looking for a Renault complete detailing and polishing solution that would address both cosmetic issues and provide some protection going forward. I wanted a comprehensive service that would handle everything from paint correction to deep interior cleaning.
After checking reviews and comparing services, I found a detailing shop that offered complete packages for mid range vehicles like mine. They weren't the cheapest option, but they also weren't trying to charge exotic car prices, which seemed fair for a Koleos.
When I dropped off the car, they did a walkthrough with me and honestly assessed what could be fixed and what couldn't. They were upfront that some of the rock chips on the bumper couldn't be completely removed without repainting, but they could minimize their appearance. I appreciated the honesty rather than overpromising.
The exterior work was comprehensive. They did a full decontamination wash, clay bar treatment, and multi stage polishing to remove the swirl marks and restore the shine to the paint. The difference was dramatic – the metallic gray now has depth and sparkle that I hadn't seen in years. They also restored the headlights so they're crystal clear again, which not only looks better but actually improves nighttime visibility.
All the black plastic trim pieces got restored to their original dark color, and they cleaned and polished the wheels thoroughly. They applied a sealant to the paint for protection, which should make it easier to maintain and help it resist fading.
For the interior, they shampooed all the fabric seats and carpets, removing stains I thought were permanent. They steam cleaned the dashboard, center console, and door panels, getting into all those dusty vents and crevices. The steering wheel was cleaned and conditioned, and all the plastic surfaces were treated to prevent fading.
They even cleaned things I wouldn't have thought about, like the seat belts, sun visors, and inside the door pockets where crumbs and debris accumulate.
The whole service took about 7 hours, and when I picked up my Koleos, I was genuinely surprised. It looked better than when I bought it three years ago. The transformation was incredible, and suddenly the idea of trading it in seemed unnecessary.
My wife was really happy with the results, the kids were impressed that their "old" car looked so good, and I'm enjoying driving it again. For the cost of the detailing, I've essentially extended the life of my vehicle by making it feel new again.
If you've got a Renault or any mid range vehicle that's looking tired but mechanically sound, I highly recommend investing in professional detailing before considering a replacement. The difference it makes is substantial, both in appearance and in how you feel about your car.
