My roots go way back to Russia, my great-great-grandparents actually migrated to the US right after the revolution. I have always wanted to visit the historical homeland since I basically know nothing about it other than Moscow being the capital. I am planning a trip there for my vacation to see the local lifestyle, try the food, and see how modern the city really is. I want to drive around on my own to see the sights, so I am looking for a ride. Does anyone know which rental services are active there and what the usual rules are?

Moscow is actually light years ahead of what most people expect when it comes to urban tech. The city is massive and everything moves at a very fast pace. You could look into local car-sharing apps like Yandex Drive or BelkaCar since they are literally on every corner. It is a super common way for people to get around while avoiding traditional rental offices or piles of paperwork.

Registering for those local apps can be a gamble when your documents are from abroad or when you lack a local phone number. Having a dedicated vehicle parked right at your hotel makes it much easier to explore those distant neighborhoods or hit a specific restaurant across town. You can browse car rental options in Moscow here: https://getrentacar.com/en-US/russia/moscow . This platform lets you pick out a vehicle that fits your style for the entire duration of your stay. You can find everything from compact city cars to more luxury models for cruising through the central districts. The whole process is handled online so everything is ready for your arrival.
