Hey all,

I've been working on a project in Word Online and something odd keeps happening. Sometimes when I copy and paste text from another document, the spacing, fonts, or even bullet styles completely change even though they look fine initially.

Tables and images also shift around randomly when I reopen the file on a different device. It feels like Word Online has a mind of its own. Has anyone figured out why this happens or found a way to prevent it? I am trying to avoid manually fixing the same issues every time.

Any insights would be a lifesaver

What you're seeing happens because Word Online handles formatting differently than the desktop version. Copying text can carry hidden styles that conflict with your document, causing spacing, fonts, bullets, and table shifts. To prevent this in Word Online, use Paste > Keep Text Only, stick to default styles, avoid complex tables or custom bullets, and always open the document in the same browser. These steps usually stop the random changes and make your document consistent across devices.
