How Do You Stay on Track With a Dissertation?

I'm currently working on my dissertation and finding it hard to keep the research, structure, and writing moving at the same pace. How do other students handle this when they get stuck on a chapter? Has anyone tried dissertation writing assistance for guidance or feedback during the process?
