Hitting a marathon is a massive accomplishment but taking a few days to cruise through the mountains is the best way to unwind. Those steep climbs in the north require something with a bit of power so you are not struggling on the switchbacks near the old fortresses. You should check out Brasov for the medieval history and then drive up to the Transfagarasan highway for some of the best views in Europe. Taking a detour to see the small villages in the valleys gives a much better look at the local culture than sticking to the main tourist hubs.
